We recently completed a stunning backyard transformation in Rowland Heights, Southern California, where our client wanted to upgrade their outdated wooden pergola into a modern, functional outdoor living space. With a large family who loves spending time outside by the pool, they were looking for a comfortable and stylish space to dine, relax, and entertain while enjoying the beautiful Southern California weather.

The new custom aluminum pergola system features a motorized louvered roof, allowing the homeowners to easily control sunlight and shade throughout the day. We added motorized retractable screens to create a fully enclosed space when desired—perfect for keeping the breeze and bugs out while keeping the comfort in.

This project includes:

• Two built-in outdoor heaters for year-round comfort
• Three ceiling fans for perfect air circulation
• Perimeter LED lighting and recessed lighting for elegant nighttime ambiance
• Integrated smart controls for lighting, screens, and louver operation

We also incorporated their existing covered deck, creating a seamless flow between the indoor and outdoor areas. With the screens down and the patio doors open, this family can now enjoy a fully connected indoor-outdoor lifestyle—whether they’re hosting dinner, watching the kids swim, or relaxing poolside.
