A polycarbonate roof (Lexan) is the answer if you want to allow all the light in but reduce the harmful UV rays and stop the rain.
We use 10mm (1/2") clear or tinted polycarbonate. This gives you an area that is free of the bugs, wind and rain. Some of our customers have chosen the screen roof at first and then switched to the polycarbonate later. Many have half of the roof in screen and the other half in polycarbonate.
